Zora Arkus-Duntov at his Ardun (a combination of “Arkus” and “Duntov) Manufacturing company in Manhattan in the mid 1940s. Ardun manufactured war munitions during World War II and later manufactured overhead valve conversion kits for the Ford flathead V8 engine. In converted form, it put out 160 hp versus 100 hp for a stock Ford flathead.
