Porscherama - April 2009

We've recently become aware of a new, 2008 edition of Karl Ludvigsen's definitive Porsche work Excellence Was Expected. Like previous editions, the collection of three hardbound books is presented in an attractive, slipcase storage box.

Much has been written about this book since it was first introduced. Both Excellence and Road & Track were among reviewers who suggest that if you can select only one book about Porsche, this should be the one.

I checked with Bentley Publishers to verify that there is an upgrade path for those who own prior editions still available. The complete 2008 set as well as the upgrade option are available on their web site: www.bentleypublishers.com.

The 2008 edition of Karl Ludvigsen's comprehensive Porsche work ?Excellence Was Expected? is available as a three-volume set, presented in an attractive, slipcase storage box. It is rather universally agreed that this is the definitive work regarding Porsche ever published.

There are 1,688 pages featuring 1,854 color and black & white photos or illustrations. The complete ?08 edition is priced at $299.95, with the upgrade priced at $150.00.

Karl Ludvigsen

In addition to his motor industry activities as an executive (with GM, Fiat and Ford) and head of a consulting company, Karl Ludvigsen has been active for over 50 years as an author and historian. As an author, co-author or editor he has some four dozen books to his credit. Needless to say, they are all about cars and the motor industry, Karl's life-long passion.
