I find it really difficult to rank these ten cars, because they all qualify as driving machines - the best of the best of Porsche. But I have put the Boxster at the top of the list simply because Porsche has managed to do such a good job of building a mid-engine car that really does achieve all of the benefits that that configuration is supposed to provide. It"s a masterpiece.
Some of my other selections might be seen as odd - the 912 for example. I"m including it because it"s such a surprisingly pleasant and easy drive. In sharp contrast, there"s nothing easy about the 930 Turbo, but it sets such a challenge that mastering it brings the satisfaction. The 996 Carrera 4S is a real tiger on the road with phenomenal capability. And I"ll let the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 stand for all the fabulous 911s and their eagerness to take corners ? a constant joy. - KL
