Oxidation or fine scratches in the paint can be polished away using a fine cleaner, just coarse enough to take away light oxidation and surface scratches without cutting paint thickness. to save time, we used a buffer to apply the cleaner, but it can be done more safely and just as well by hand, especially by most of us amateurs.
