Windows 95/98/2000: I'm installing Internet Explorer 5.0 and the Connection Wizard appears.

You do not need an active connection to the Internet to use the Volkswagen Electronic Manual. However, if you do not have an Internet Service Provider the Microsoft Internet Explorer installation will automatically start the Internet Connection Wizard. Please answer the questions that the Connection Wizard asks as follows:

  1. Select the option that reads: I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN).

  2. Click the Next button.

  3. You will be asked How do you connect to the Internet? Answer: I connect through a local area network (LAN).

  4. Click the Next button.

  5. You will be prompted: Windows will now install files and drivers... Click the OK button.

    Several files will be installed.

  6. The Local Area Network Configuration screen will appear next. Select the option that reads: Automatic discovery of proxy server [recommended].

  7. You will be prompted to: Set Up Your Internet Mail Account. Select No.

  8. Click the Next button.

  9. Click the Finish button.
