Tom Benford

A freelance writer and editor for more than 30 years, Tom Benford has written hundreds of articles. His by-line has appeared in publications including Oui, Harley-Davidson Enthusiast, Lens, New Jersey Business, New Jersey Living, New Jersey Monthly, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and USA Today. He is also a frequent contributor to Vette, Corvette Fever, CorvetteMagazine.com, Corvette Enthusiast, Cars & Parts Corvette and Cars & Parts magazine.

An award-winning writer and dedicated Corvette historian, Tom is the author of Corvette Performance Projects 1968-1982 (MBI), The Street Rod (MBI), and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Restoring Collector Cars (Alpha/Penguin Books). He also shares author credit with Randy Leffingwell on Corvette: Five Decades of Sports Car Speed (Crestline Books).

In addition to his automotive writing, Tom has authored three books on computer science published by MIS:Press, a division of Henry Holt and Company: Welcome To…CD-ROM, Welcome To…PC Sound, Music and MIDI and Introducing Desktop Video. Also a published songwriter, he has recorded two albums.

The Benford stable of vintage cars includes six Corvettes from the 1963 through 1981 years, a 1933 Dodge coupe street rod and a recent addition, a 1998 C5 triple-black convertible. An avid enthusiast and member of the National Corvette Restorers Society, Tom does much of his own restoration work.

Tom lives in New Jersey with Liz, his wife of 25 years, and their German Shepherd, Wolf.
