Philip H. Smith
Philip H. Smith, CEng, FIMechE, MSAE, who died suddenly in October 1969, was an automobile engineer of wide experience and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He was also the author of many erudite volumes on motor engineering. As a young man he was a keen competitor in motor sport and the reader will find his enthusiasm reflected in the book. Philip Smith could use a spanner as well as a slide rule and his advice is practical and understanding.
